Approaching Christmas

One of my favorite Christmas movies is “The Bishop’s Wife” with Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven. I’m a sucker for old black and white movies where there was actual dialogue. The movie brings to mind some very timely questions – what are we seeking? What are we expecting? What are our motives?

Do we rush around and try to do “big things” for God, and yet leave him out of the process? I hope not.

Today, as I write this, I think of how the Magi traveled so far for so long to pay homage. They offered Jesus gifts and worshiped him, because they recognized he was the light. They followed the star – but the light of the world was here, not in the sky.
