    Role Model

There is an old song, “There’s a river of life flowing out of me…” What if that were really true –  consistently, in abundance, without regard to personal cost? Can you imagine the impact this would have on our world? On our friends? On our familes? On our workplace? Let’s reel it back for a moment and look at a few “fly over” verses in the book of John. When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.”…

    Thoughts From My Journal

It is still early. It is Easter. Christ is alive and on His throne. He will never be moved or shaken. Every knee will bow! Glory to His name forever. With the angels, I say, “Hallelujah!” I love You, Jesus. Your saving grace is stunning – overwhelming. May I be a reflection of Your shining light. Today, as I reflect on life, on God, on the “real” things, it moves me to my core. This heart God has given me – the optimist, the Encourager…so grateful He crafted me. He didn’t have to. Yet, He did.

    Living

Scientists tell us that space is vastly empty, with great distances between stars. Other than our magnificent and perfect sun, the closest star to Earth, Alpha Centauri, is a little over 4 lightyears from us. That’s an enormous amount of space, to say the least. On days such as New Year’s Day, 2023, where resolutions and hope abound, it is a good time to recollect what this whole thing we call “living” really is. Is it interactions with others? Is living comprised of your hopes and dreams? Is it God’s plans for you? Is it the inner voice chiding or complimenting you? Yes, and no. Maybe this thing we call…

    Behind the Blur

The blur is there – Masking the image that had once seemed clear. Now, it is as though A wash of color has obliterated the view… And, that is ok, Because I trust. I trust the One Who watches over Israel and Slumbers not, not sleeps – Watches over me. In spite of my messes, His love is greater. My prayer is that my heart is HIs, Not just in word and deed, Also, in the hidden alcoves. I lift my song – In a language only we two share, And sing as if my life depends on Him, Because it does. – RG

    Wonder

I’ve seen the sun shine across the Continental Divide on horseback – Streaming rays of molten gold melting over Aspen trees. I’ve felt the wind blowing in my face Off the snow that refused to melt in the heat of the summer at Snowmass, Colorado. And scenes of wildflowers frolicking at Estes Park. Sights, sounds, smells that have left an indelible stamp on me… One who is a searcher, always. It is strangely beautiful that the seasons of life do not always correspond with our expectations. I’m enormously grateful that I do not orchestrate the days. As the leaves begin to paint themselves in the palette of God, So, my…

    The Maple Tree

About an hour or so north of Detroit, Michigan, there is pretty land filled with hills, lakes, firs and hardwood trees. It was here that I grew up – in a rambling farmhouse perched on one of those hills. The house had been built when Abraham Lincoln was alive, around the time he signed the “Emancipation Proclamation”. The Farm. Outside of the dining room door there was a deeply rooted, sprawling maple tree. It’s sturdy trunk and welcoming branches were just right to grab and climb. My sister, Sandy, showed me how to swing up into a perfect cradle that the tree seemed to have grown just for us. It…
