Chapters

Sunday…the first day of the week. And what a week this will be!

Earlier this year, I selected “shine” as my one word. As of tomorrow, I will be working at Sunoco. How interesting is it that shine and sun have so much in common? Do you think this is coincidence? I don’t. I think it’s emblematic of the fact that “all my steps are ordained by God”. That’s right, all of them – even the ones that seem a bit uncomfortable.

A friend at work said something so surprising to me on Friday – it gave me shivers. He said, “you bring light where you go. People have needed to be with you or hear what you have to say here. Now, your work is here is done. God is moving you to new people…” Thank you, Joseph! That was a beautiful moment of encouragement from a beautiful soul and friend.

The writer in me now looks at this as yet another chapter in an ongoing book. As the page turns, and the light dims on previous page, what is contained in the chapters prior is still important, because it is all part of the fabric for the whole story I call my life. I am not closing one chapter and starting over, it’s a continuum – it is building on the foundation which has come before. I am, as it were, a culmination of the past. Now, I will embrace the present and continue to build toward the future. It’s rather stunning and exciting when one views it in that way.

I will rejoice in the days God gives me. I will be His page to write upon my heart, and “go forth.” May this chapter be everything that it’s meant to be. I’m ready.
