Build – 2024 “One Word”

Each year, in lieu of a New Year’s resolution, I mull over and pray about what one word I would like to have characterize my coming year. In 2023, it was “Shine”, which I still have an affinity for and treasure dearly. It was a great word on many levels in 2023, and I hope I continue to carry its corona with me into 2024. 🙂

On this first day of the new year, it is fitting that I launch my one word. In 2024 it is BUILD. There are many possibilities and positives in this word. It is also an action word – one of participation, intention, planning, execution and involvement. No bystanders in BUILD. All of these things I do routinely in my profession – and now, I’m going to leverage those things in my personal life.

Starting with music. I am building a home recording studio so I and maybe others can write, record and distribute from within the confines of (currently) my living room. At some point I hope to build a bona fide studio – this is for starters. It has been in progress for a few weeks now. Learning a DAW (digital audio workstation) has been an adventure. Now that I’m able to get sound from my keyboard, microphone, etc., to playback, the possibilities are endless! To say I’m excited is an understatement.

Build also refers to relationships with others, encouraging others, personal health, growing in knowledge, living for God – a whole slew of facets that I am eager to explore and experience in 2024.  Those of you who know me can almost assuredly hear me saying, “Giddy up!”

So, in a world that has many uncertainties, today, January 1, 2024, is focused and clear. The foundation is there and will not be shaken. My rock, my fortress is the Master Architect. I’m excited to walk where He leads.

“For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” Hebrews 3:4
