    I Remember…

It is a holiday weekend – specifically, Memorial Day. I have seen posts about Veteran’s who landed on the shores of France, knowing that the odds of coming home were minute. They went. They didn’t question. The markers showing their unquestioning commitment is stunning. What kind of people would sign up for such duty? Who would say, “yes” to that? Those who believe in FREEDOM, INTEGRITY, HONOR. This weekend, as we remember those who gave their lives, let us hold them in high esteem. Let us strive to have the moral compass that does not swerve or buckle. Let us remember that many of us share their DNA. Stop and…

    Seasons and Hope

There have been times in  life when I wondered and even agonized over circumstances. The dreaded, “whys” and “if onlys” rear their ugly heads. Today there are numerous uncertainties. Our world feels fractured. It is like someone threw a rock at a mirror and there are shards and spiderwebs of glass, rather than a cohesive pane. Some are suspicious, angry and even destructive. I learned a few weeks ago that the word peace in the Bible, when referring to Jesus, is not passive. It connotates completeness. The gap is filled in. The structure is sound and whole. Peace is sublimely strong. Boy, isn’t that what we need right now? Today…

    Heart Health

How many times a day does our heart beat? Hopefully at least once more, right? How often do we consider what’s really inside our heart – what we believe? Our beliefs propel us in and out of situations. Our beliefs guide us and direct us. Inside our heart we store up countless memories, thoughts and desires. In my continuation of “my one word”, ALL – here is a beautiful admonition for us. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

    Right Light

It’s hard to believe we are pushing toward the end of January already. I guess that means I better focus on getting my tax preparation done for my Accountant, right? There is something I have done for the past few years, “My One Word”. I like it. It Makes me focus. This year, my one word is ALL. I’m very excited about it, because it’s so expansive. There is so much in life where we limit ourselves – and ALL is the opposite of that. Also, I’ve discovered it’s used a lot in the scripture. Very interesting. Here is one I found a moment ago… “This is the message we…

    Full On

Years ago, I picked a Hotmail address – it was Go Full On. I still have it, even though Hotmail has been assimilated into Outlook. FULL ON. Don’t do something half-way. Don’t be tepid. Give it your ALL. That’s my mantra this year. I’m all in. There is going to be no midway with me. It’s all or nothing. Carpe diem, baby! I am going to love with everything I have – write with all that is in me – sing loud, strong and happy. I’m going to play, worship and live with abandon. ” Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and…

    Practice Makes Perfect

Have you ever started thanking God for one thing, and the list keeps getting longer and longer? It’s so good to remind ourselves about who and what we are blessed with, rather than moaning about what we think we are supposed to have! Today, it is cloudy, foggy and generally dreary out – but not on the inside! I encourage you to take a moment (or ten) and remind yourself of your blessings. Try this out – I mean, work your way through this list. (bold/italics mine). When you get to the end, your brain and heart will be in a great place. Practice teaching your mind what is TRUE.…
