Contrasts
Today is Palm Sunday. Can you imagine the scene? Here it is as told in the book of Luke. “When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’ Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples! ‘I tell you,’ he replied, “’f they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’ As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city,…

Lingering
Today is one of those days that feels as though maybe Mom and Dad may actually be here. I have thought of many things today that are so vivid and so real that it’s difficult to tell where the memory starts and the present begins. Here is one memory in particular…. Dad had been ill for quite some time. I realize today as I am recovering from bronchitis I never recall him complaining about what he went through. It wasn’t as if he was stoic, he simply enjoyed what he had. Mom married Dad when she was a young widow with 3 children. Shortly thereafter, she was expecting! She and…

Book 2 Official!
It has been a while since I’ve been able to say this….Woo Hoo! My book is published. This time I did not cry when the box arrived. The feelings were deep and strong. My parents taught us to work hard and follow your dreams. I am glad Mom was alive to see the first book. I hope she and Pop know this one is out, too. It’s a funny feeling seeing something you created available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Ketch Publishing. It gives kind of a warm feeling. I’m super thankful. Now, Book 3 is being edited!! Yes, that’s true. I hope to have this one out around…

Amicis Vale
It feels strange and wonderful to have completed writing book #5 of “The Call Series”. It is a Sunday afternoon, I’m listening to jazz, and yet, part of my heart is with these characters who have lived in my head for several years. I never knew it would feel like this. It’s definitely bittersweet. Imagination is an amazing thing. I believe it is directly a reflection of our Creator. After all, He spoke worlds and galaxies into existence. That settles whether God has an imagination. I know…I know, a sense of humor, too – since He created me. 🙂 So now in the quiet of an afternoon, I must admit,…

Mysteries and Majesty
There are so many things all around us that happen, and we march right through them. A friend recently told me he stops at the end of the day and takes inventory on what has happened. He asks what can he be thankful for at the conclusion of this day? So – I’m going to tell you 3 things I’m thankful for today. I wrote them up and put them in my blessing jar, because I want to be reminded on 12/31. My church gave everyone 14 and up $50 and asked us to pray what to do with it. I prayed and was very convinced I knew exactly what…

Rambling Thoughts
This past weekend was great. Have you ever really been in a zone? I know sometimes sportscasters talk about players hitting free throws or three-pointers being in the zone. Obviously I’ve never experienced that! My zone this weekend was completely different. My zone was my 5th book. It was like I opened a door and walked back into this world I know and love. I really love it when that happens. It feels as though I am there. I can’t really explain it, but I have friends who have seen me in the midst of it and they understand! After getting some feedback on the historical / culture accuracy of…
